WoLD Reference Challenge 2 - Zodd

    Hi all.

Saw this last night and thought I'd give it a shot. Took me the entire evening, and I'm amazed I actually finished.

The engine I used was Hammer, the Left 4 Dead 2 authoring tools version specifically. I didn't use any custom props or textures. Since this is my first time doing anything like this I would like some honest feedback. I've been making maps as a hobby for years, but never posted anything. I'm looking forward to seeing the other entries.

    Here are my "beauty shots."

I love it when I have to take a second look to see if it is an actual in game shot. So cool. I vote for this one lol.

Thats really nice! Good work man.

If you didn't use custom textures for this one, How did you do the broken plaster over the bricks? Is it like plaster made into displacement? Also the rings look really nice, I quess you made like a lot of brushes to get the 3 rings?

Thanks for all the positive comments.

To answer Billiz's question about the plaster over the bricks... I used brushes. The plaster is basically 1 unit thick and made of func_detail brushes. I did the same on the right side except I added the thin concrete-ish looking layer above the plaster. I also used brushes on the sidewalk. Lining up all those vertices took forever! It was very tedious work, but I wanted it to look as much like the image as I could.
