    Re: WoLD Reference Challenge 1 - YayitsM4tt

So after about 4-5 hours of work, with some breaks in between, I have a blocked out, pretty much to scale environment. Need to play around with the water, as I've never done "expensive" water in Source before. I think that's my only concern at this point. Couple things are off here and there, but small stuff.

Tomorrow I'm going to gather up a bunch of custom textures and finish the geometry (goal is to finish everything a day ahead of schedule to allow for a possible error or something).

    Matt,

Progress is good. Hard to judge scale without seeing the players next to the building.

The right side of the front of the building seems way too long. The part with the three windows on second floor.

    Re: WoLD Reference Challenge 1 - YayitsM4tt

Was busy most of Saturday on my MOD trying to get it up and started, so got a little less than I wanted done, but it's coming together nicely.

Thanks Alex on pointing out the scale problem - after I saw that, everything had to be pretty much shrunk in all directions.

At the moment, I just need to do detail work (railings, wooden blinds, etc), some texture work after that, and tweak the lighting. I'll post images in a few hours, as everytime I compile, I end up changing a thing or another, but I've got progress ones taken.

Nice work, here, too... What's up w/ the 2 different lighting schemes in the 1st and 2nd shots? Looks like your water is different, too?

My bad, lol. The first shot is all the progress I made Saturday and Sunday - the 2nd shot is the progress after working yesterday.

Ok, got sick of scrolling on the site, lol - if anybody can still find this of use, feel more than free to download it - it's easier to zoom around in Win7 and just have one window open - blueprint included!

Yeah, man, nice job. Again, the only thing I can see is some lighting and lightmap issues. Had I been able to get into this one, I would definitely been in the same boat!

    Thanks guys!

Ya, that and the pool were my biggest concerns - lighting is tricky in Hammer cuz there's not an ideal way of previewing unless you go in game. Still pretty happy with the way it turned out though = ]

I agree with Oilcake about the lightmap issue. I think it would have looked nicer with a lower lightmap scale. Some of the lighting looks a bit 'blocky'.

Other than that, superb work Matt.
