Re: What are you working on?

After a long break from Hammer Mapping and a new computer, I'm back in the saddle again.

    What am I working?

Second novel in a series, now that the first is final editing (first round).

Oh, wait, you meant with Hammer!

I decided to take another look at the "CEDA Escape" maps I was doing, then realized that the first map was waaaay too long. So I'm currently cutting it down to the CEDA building itself, and learning about how to keep lights from bleeding through walls, and basically starting like I don't know anything but how to lay geometry.

Oh, and Keithgarry: Who are you taking the ASVAB for? If you don't mind a little hint, don't get an MOS set in your head till after you take the ASVAB, because jobs that they don't advertise too much might get offered to you if you score good on the ASVAB.

    With the UDK

These pics are slightly outdated, I've worked on the lighting more. I've also have a real nice cave maze system that leads the player out to this courtyard. I'll be honest, I have no idea where I'm going with this. This map is more of an excerise than anything, representing my first foray into terrain editing.

I'm not going to let the map go to waste however. I'll follow the many articles of this website and create a better planned and designed map that I'll transport the player to from this map. But I'd love any criticisms you may have? This is technically my third map with the UnrealEngind 3, first using the UDK.

My biggest challenge really is how I am so limited to UT3 assets for everything. I need to hook up with a 3D artist

    Hey Neeko, welcome
When I first read "cave maze" I was like, "oh my god this is going to be putrid", but it actually surprised me because your color scheme works really well. The one thing I can advise is maybe, just maybe, include one more texture to break up the color palette. Other than that it looks very nice, good job so far

Thanks for reminding me! I wanted to paint a layer of snow on the terrains. I almost forgot to include that

Re: What are you working on?

Hey all Im new here and have been working on my first UDK level. Its called into the Cave.
The player starts off outside a cave opening and enters what appears like an old underground temple.
The Idea is its a single player map where player breaks through a bit of wall and enters into a more cave like environment.
going to include a variety of enemies puzzles and exploration.
I have a map done up even though its pretty basic and chances are i'll change things as I go along.

Main goal for this level wasnt so much gameplay focused. more just me getting used to BSP brushes and UDK in general.
think lighting needs a bit mroe work and would be good if I had more ground props to fill room out with but doesnt seem to be a lot in UDK for this purpose.
Still debating on going over to gears of war editor or trying L4D2 because I'd like a lot more assets to play with.

    Any feedback welcome
