    [WIP] 11 Day Level Design – Winter

    Dig is a map designed for HL2 Deathmatch.
    A temple was found in an archeological dig site buried in ice.


    DAY 1: Complete [3 hours and 4 minutes]
    Idea, Research, Reference, Floor plan and Gameplay Elements.
    Sketches, drawings.

    DAY 2: Complete [ 3 hours and 26 minutes]
    Light Test + Geometry Pass #1

    DAY 3:
    Reference catwalk and similar related ideas [15 minutes] Complete
    Prefab Catwalks [8 minutes] Complete
    Light Test [30 minutes] Complete
    Geometry Pass #2 (1 of 5)[1 hour] Complete

    I wasted waay too much time messing with the light test room. Over two hours actually. And I still didn't get the results I wanted. I've set 30 minutes for the next two days as lighting tests. That way I wont lose track of time. Tomorrow should be over 5 hours of geometry work.

    Test Room




    I didn't stay in any area of design for too long. Time was broken up enough for me to feel rejuvenated and remain energetic. It's going on 5AM here, though, so I wasn't able to finish the last two passes for the day. That's cool though. I'm starting to get a very good feel for the atmosphere of the level. I found some neat ideas in HL2DM that I can't wait to implement.

    I did get stuck on angled geometry for a while, but I overcame it and learned a lot. This challenge is amazing.
