Smile [HL2 EP2 Mod] Mission Improbable

    Hi there!

My name is Magnar Jenssen. I have, along with Rick Underhill, created a mod called "Mission Improbable" for Half-Life 2 Episode 2.

It features 4 levels, tons of new content, a new character and around 2 hours of gameplay.

    Here are some screenshots:

Larger versions, along with many more, can be seen here:

A launch trailer can be seen here:

And the mod can be downloaded from here:

If you want to read more about it, you can check out the modDB site right here:

Sorry for the link overload, I think I covered everything now. Hope you will give the mod a try, and that you'll enjoy it!

Don't know if I'll ever get around to playing it but it looks really beautiful! You've really taken Source to some nice places. Congrats!

Jesus f-in' christ... two of you made this... I watched someone play a walkthrough on metube, and I have to say this firmly blasts the pelvis through the head with a sturdy kick to the groin of anything valve have made in all ways. I love the quirky humour bit at the end where you open the rocket crate and its filled with empty paint cans (big lolz), kind of like those cartoons where the character pulls a parachute chord and an old wrought iron stove flops out. Marbellous work. Everything is spot on, no need to break it into categories. Im almost inspired to download ep2 and get the hammer out again, but casting my mind back to the vomitworthy lighting I was constantly getting, drained me of all my enthusiasm to continue with it; like my day job.

Its that entertaining and well designed and stuffed full of excellence I can just watch someone play and go "Nice displacements, nice layout on the detail sprites... mmm nice lighting there, sweet sturctural design there... oh, no black triangles on angular walls and curved brushwork... great, yep nice fogging there no obvious LOD popping, etc. I can appreciate the craft invested in it. I really like the way the map is fully used and that previous places are returned to, and the architecture looks AND FEELS solid, realistic and believable. I dont know what you would have used for reference, but the spaces and layout are so well put together I wouldnt be surprised if you visited these places in corporeal form. Also from the videos I have seen there is not the slightest observable lag or framedrop, even going back into outside areas, which means that there is a level of understanding of optimization that god must have whispered into your mind, that I can barely comprehend. Either that or Im really thick. I believe it's the latter, either way, relative differences lol

This is the kind of thing I would have liked to make for zombie master and zombie mod, but me and hammer were just not meant to be. Great great contribution, and I havent seen anything better in source sdk yet, not just graphically but in terms of tight and dense content. Well done indeed. I dont mean to sound like a slobbering sycophant, but credit must be served as deserved.
