The Legacy of Fail: Gears of War 3 Level Design with Epic’s Jim Brown

A great article from G4's The Feed, an interview with Jim Brown on his work on GOW3 level design.

I also enjoyed reading this and wish I had the available testing equipment that Epic level designers have. The use of heat maps definitely helps in terms of discovery. Level designers are able to discover through these maps how there levels are being played and it provides such priceless data that any studio should have access to this technology. I also found it interesting to see that even AAA quality level designers need to iterate and evolve their levels as development progresses. Goes to show that nothing is perfect the first time around and that it takes huge balls to restart a level from scratch. Great article Frag69!

Oh man yeah! It would definitely help you guys out with your Space Station level right? Did they not give you any extra QA stuff when you got your licence?
