WoLD Storytelling Challenge 2 - Steven Billingslea

Just found out about this but seeing as there are still more than three weeks until the deadline I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring. I plan on doing something with a more medieval setting, something akin to the setting in Skyrim. I'm going for a burned down mage apprenticeship school that's obviously been attacked by a dragon (Hey, did I mention it was like Skyrim? ). Here's some of my reference photos for architecture and setting.

I'm not planning on the scene to be huge or anything, simply noting the environments and the detail in the architecture so I can try to maintain a theme.

And here's some of the material prep work I've been working on to speed things along. It's a material instance based on the popular "snow on top" shaders that are on youtube.

Anyways, I'll keep updating regularly and I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer in this contest. Good luck everyone.

    Progress!

Set up the mountain and played with the snow Mats a bit. Going to tweak the mats a bit more before final but I'm liking them so far. Messing with fog levels because I want the appearance of snow falling and what not. Have a bit more ways to go with this, including modeling the burnt shack, WOLD logo and snow particles and materials etc. Still, liking it so far. Here are the pics. Textures for the ground are place holders and will be replaced.

I'll be posting a bit faster next time, sorry for the wait!

Not gonna make it by the deadline. Other things took precedent. Still finishing though. Since all I have left to do is the burnt down building and sign... Sucks I couldn't make it by tonight. Ah well. I'll keep this thread current
