I couldn't get 911 out of my head after I read the story challenge. I will try to create a respectfull "ground zero" with a touch of hope for the future,

Im trying to create a respectfull ground zero with a touch of hope for the future. Its an ode to the fallen. I mean no disrespect. However it will not be a 100% recreation of "ground zero" it will be my Interpretation of it.

Short update: Snow particles.

There are no snow particles in Crysis2 editor, so I had to convert Crysis 1 snow particles to the Crysis 2 editor.

Might need to look into that too. I expect to see some nice Cry Engine entry's for this challenge.

I took the liberty of exporting the snow particles. Here are the Crysis (original) snow particles http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8WPN1CWR
Add them to the folder: ".......\Crysis2\gamecrysis2\Libs\Particles\

Once you have opened it there should be 2 new maps in your particles folder.(Snow & snow1) If you add at least 1 of them onto your map the particles should save as well.

if i start in this challenge, i wouldn't probably even look on UDK, in Crysis 2 SDK you can find loads of assets just great for this kind of level art

Small update:
Day 2: (Yesterday)
Started with a new blank terrain and worked on the background buildings.
Today Im planning to work on the height map and some key center pieces. (2 big cranes with the American flag hanging from the cranes.)

Started with the terrain and background building.

Had some troubles importing the Crysis1 models that I needed inside Crysis 2 editor. Had to replace some textures, change the metal shaders and so on.

I can't wait to change it to nighttime and start playing with the lights:

Here is the first video update.

Camera is still a bit jerky and the middle and last part are missing. (middle will consists of detail shots and last part will be either twin tower lights or the future building)

No details have been added on the foreground of the video yet. That is because I wanted to outline the camera path first so I know where to place the details. The lighting in the background and on the rubble isnt finished as well.
