@Zapwizard I loved your castaway sp level. I still use the laptop that I won with the White House level in the IA creativity section. Sadly It can't run CryENGINE 3. Glad to see you enter this challenge and hopefully it will be on CryENGINE again.

    Asset Questions

What kinda limitations we have about assets ?
So, are we allowed to use royalty-free assets, engine assets etc. Or is it completely limited by own-created assets ?

    IMPORTANT FOR CryENGINE 3 users:

For those who wish to use Crysis 2 Mod SDK or CryENGINE 3 free standalone for this challenge. There are NO snow particles standard in these engines.

However Crysis 1 (and Warhead) both have snow particles which you can load into Crysis 2 Mod SDK or CryENGINE 3.

I took the liberty of exporting the snow particles. Here are the Crysis (original) snow particles http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8WPN1CWR
Add them to the folder: ".......\Crysis2\gamecrysis2\Libs\Particles\

Once you have opened it there should be 2 new maps in your particles folder.(Snow & snow1) If you add at least 1 of them onto your map (and save the map) the particles should save as well.

Example of Crysis 1 particles inside Crysis 2:

MUST include a reference to World of Level Design as part of the environment.
i just want to confirm, that we need to show the WoLD logo at some point as apart of the level in some way

No limitations. What you use or create is up to you.

Yes. In one of the screenshots, through texture or model. How you do this is up to you.

Sounds like a great challenge and I had all sorts of ideas floating around in my head after reading that description. I was set on using the CryEngine for this challenge too as it would have been a good opportunity to learn the basics of this new engine.

Sadly, I think I have way too much to do this month. So I'll be sure to share my future workings on the WIP thread later in the year.

For now, to all entrants, good luck!

I know this is technically an environment challenge, but if I wanted to know if I could use Garry's mod to pose survivors into my final screenshots or if that would just be considered distracting and unnecessary?

    Yes, you could do that.

As if it is going to be distracting or unnecessary, that is hard to say without seeing it. It will depend on the composition, the story and how you incorporated the characters into the environment.

Am i allowed to do the WoLD logos with some particles effects and / or some props, instead the official logo? couz i don't think that just the logo will fit in my fantasy scenario, so with particles and props and can manage to make something cool. (pleeeease)

My musician made a 33seconds music piece....sorry I asked him for 30 seconds. Would it be ok if I add 30 seconds of ingame movie and end with 3 seconds of credits or fade out ?
