Re: BenGough_WINTER 2011
I actually build a safe room. Doesn't have to be at the other end, as such, just far enough away from the player start for nav_analyze to be able to figure out an escape route. Then in my survival mode instance, I add a nav blocker and fake wall piece to block off the safe room. I dunno if I have time to do a full tutorial on this in time for Ben to be able to get it working, though... Does anyone else have any input? Like, has anyone gotten survival working in L4D2 without doing this? If so, how?

I'll say that I DID have it sort of working in my bus station level and I didn't have safe rooms. Infected spawned and I had bosses ... but it never worked really well. They only spawned from a single area which seemed wrong.

I have a place to make a saferoom. The second Projector room, its there but blocked by a Func_door_Rotating that is indestructible and locked, that should work.

Re: BenGough_WINTER 2011
Wow this is really nice!
The exterior has the feel of one of Valve's maps, good quality and layout. The interior of the secondary buildings were good too, especially the garage type one. The theater lobby was great, I shot all the posters!
I like your projector, and the screen strobe effect was cool. All in all a vey good map in my opinion, although a little short but I can't complain there. The only real critiques I have are that the color in the theater screen room seemed a little too cold...it was good but maybe just a bit odd compared to the rest of the level. I don't know, it just felt different from the other areas...not really bad, just odd.
The projector room was nice too but could have had maybe a tad more color to it, it was very gray. I really liked the way you had the stairs going up to the screen room, nice symettry and a good way to tie in the windows on the outside. I liked the look of the room with the largest glass block windows, although I half expected another poster or 2. The hallway with the entrance to the screen rooms was nice, good colors and stripes and reminded me of a hall in System Shock 2 so you get reminiscence points there.
Overall the map had a feel of being larger than it really was, which was awesome. I really liked shooting the zombies through the windows while in the grocery store. It took me a minute to realize that I couldn't go around to that area because of the barricade but that also added to the sense of size. Well done, nice layout, good details on the buildings and with the airconditioning units and the trash bags and graffiti.
Rating 5/5 Excellent detail for the amount of time, good job with limiting oneself to a small map and with getting a nice layout and feel. Very close to par with Valve's maps. Keep it up! I hope to see your work in later competitions.

Really nice work Ben! Loving this map. You definitely know how to add those little extras to give it that realistic touch.
