I haven't played or bought MOdern Warfare 2 becasue of the mixed reviews i've read on Play and Amazon. I liked Modern Warfare, but am unsure about this one. Could anyone who's played it share their opinions please.

I Haven't played it myself but have a friend who was a hard core fan of the first (I mean he seriously thought it was the best game ever) and he thought th second one is terrible (So bad even he claims he would have returned it (It's PC version so he can't :P )).

My personal opinion (No i haven't played it this is based of friends recounts of it + trailers etc) is that it is not worth looking at. Like the first it has a completely incoherent story (It's worse in fact :S). It has no engine improvements (The graphics are exactly the same, I was saddened when saw how pixilated textures are in the trailers and how bad the effects look).

In my opinion its just a twitch based shooter that doesn't really have any depth or take any skill at all (thats why everyone likes it). I'm going to borrow it from a friend because the single player is decent from what I heard but I'm not touching multiplayer.

My roommate played through singleplayer and said he really liked it. He plays regularly online (tho I've heard bad stuff about the PC online version), but now he's playing on harder difficulty to unlock stuff.

I don't have it yet and I really want to play it, waiting for my birthday next week to finally get this and L4D2.

I don't like how IW decided against the dedicated server support and the reviews amazon say PC version is a console port. I can't play FPS games on the console, I really need to have my mouse and keyboard.

But I am really excited to play it for the single player campaign. Its like watching Micheal Bay film, 60 mph with no breaks.

I played both singel player and multi a lot, and the singel player is really cool, I think all players would like this, it's like being in the middle of a movie, and not just playing a map then you get to watch the movie like a lot of other games are. Personaly I think CoD 4 Modern warfare had more of a realistic feeling to it, MW2 is a little bit over the top, but it's still great and you have some cool maps there.

Mutliplayer is nice, but the new IWNet has some problems, the matchmaking system is really buggy and the security is a joke, they can send like trojans and stuff through it.

The main thing about the PC edition players have had a problem with is that they did not support dedicated servers and that makes the game more or less out for the e-sports part which is a strange think to do.

I also think they won't sopport modding and map making, but I'm not sure about that.

Anyway I really like to play multiplayer and I'm level 50 on my second level, thats going to max level 70 and start over again so I'm level 70 + 50 atm :P

So if you just want to have fun playing you should buy this game, if your buying it for modding and level design you should check around that the status on that is.

Yeah it depends on what you're after really. It's kind of like that blockbuster you know will be good but doesn't bring anything new to the table. A friend likened it to the Transformers film, it was big, amazing and loud but didn't have much depth to it - but we all loved the crap out of it.

So you're pretty much guaranteed a good time, which is why it's selling so well. But things like no dedicated servers and no community support really bug me enough to wait for it to cool down and be affordable (it's currently twice the price of, say, L4D2).

The price is the biggest detterent to me. Without cmmunity support and modding tools it doesn't feel worth it yet. I am concerned with the Multipayer IWnet system - from waht i hear it isn't very stable.
