Here are a few introduction shots for a map project i'm struggling to tackle the production on :( I hope i'll find some time to continue and get an alpha out, thanks to alex's time management methods he described previously on WOLD =)

This is for the game Enemy Territory : Quake Wars

That looks beautiful. So clean and organized. I love it.

How close to original gamplay flow do you stay once you begin to build inside the editor? Do you find yourself changing for gameplay inside the editor or do you stay fairly close to the original drawing layout?

What program do you use to create the layouts?

Looks great. I agree very organised. Seems like a big project. What software did you use for your 2D layout by the way?

Many thanks for your feedback.
I'm using MS Visio to draw my 2D layouts, but I reckon many softwares are perfectly capable of doing this job (Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape to name a few).
Next batch of 3D layout pics have been done using Google Sketchup, then quickly prototyped using the game engine :

Better looking model
Still *a lot* of work to do. I'll keep you posted :)

My intentions are to basically create a map that could stand along those released with the game. So it will be pretty traditional gameplay-wise. No space map here ;)
Of course I can't get the best gameplay with a 2D layout. I'll have to make constant adjustements within the editor. I'll plan to playtest the map early to spot the various exploits it could contain, and gather player feedback.

This 2D layout will help me to keep a global direction so I wouldn't get off the track by accident.

Hi channie

Nice and neat. really liking the layout, Very clean and organised. I also like the flow chart, very much used in the industry i have heard. You obviously know what your doing so when you get the time post some pics of how the map is going. Cheers.
